Studio Policies

Age Policy

Age is a helpful parameter for deciding levels, but each child and family situation is unique. If there is an issue with class times and placement for your child, talk to our staff to determine the best solution for your child and your family.

Students are expected to attend their classes on a regular basis. There are no make-up classes. Regular attendance is necessary in order to advance through the levels of study. If students desire to perform in the recital, absences leading up to the performance are highly discouraged. Refunds are not given for missed classes.

Class Calendar and Severe Weather

Unless otherwise noted, The Neighborhood Ballet will follow the Atlanta Public School’s (APS) calendar. Please visit here for specific dates. In the case of inclement weather, The Neighborhood Ballet will close when Atlanta Public Schools close. Please check our Facebook Page prior to coming to class when in doubt of weather cancellations. We do not offer makeup classes for inclement weather closings.

Class Cancellations

TNB reserves the right to cancel classes due to low enrollment. Enrolled families will be contacted to discuss alternatives.

The a non-refundable deposit of the first month of tuition will be collected to hold the space in the class. Refunds are not given for missed classes or for withdrawals, although in certain situations, refunds may be given on a case by case basis.

Dress Code

For information about the dress code, click the link below.

Dropping Off and Picking Up

Students should remain in the lobby and supervised until the instructor indicates that it is time for the students to enter the classroom. Students should remain in the lobby until their parent or guardian arrives.

Level Advancement

Placement will depend on age, ability, dance experience, and class size.

Performance Opportunities

Performing is an integral part of a student’s education and teaches the process of learning how to rehearse and prepare repertoire.  Students will have the opportunity to perform during our May recital. Please visit here for more information on performance opportunities.

It is important that students arrive on time and are ready to dance at their scheduled class time. We request that children are taken to the toilet before their class commences to avoid disruption to the classes.

Reception Area Etiquette

We ask that our reception area be considered a quiet and calm space. Loud voices and unsupervised children can lead to an environment that is disruptive to our dancers in the studio, to our staff who are talking with families at the desk and on the phone, and most importantly, to our students with sensitivities to sound. Each of our reception areas has cozy corner with children's picture books where kids can calmly read or work on an activity before class. We welcome siblings at our studio but if a child is having a rambunctious day - as we all do from time to time - our studios are in a walkable areas, with playgrounds (Ormewood Church Playground) and/or greenspace (Oakland Cemetery) nearby.

Tuition Policy

Families with more than one child enrolled will receive a 3% discount off of the tuition for each child. Tuition covers costs of classes only and does not cover costs for performance fees, costume fees, dance portraits, etc. Additional costs will apply if you choose to participate in these additional activities. Tuition is based on a 5 month season (Fall= August-December; Spring= January-May). Tuition is not prorated by the number of weeks in a month: for example, months with 5 weeks or months with only 3 weeks have the same monthly charge.
